This weekend, the West Hollow Middle School will be performing Into The Woods, a play described by its director as a twisted tale of Cinderella, Jake and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, The Baker and his wife.
"We will be performing Act One of Into the Woods," said Matt Petrucci, the art director at West Hollow who also directs the school's plays. "You'll have to see what happens when their fairy tales meet together in the woods."
Michael Worshoufsky is the lead in this year's play and has been the lead in performances in each of his three years at West Hollow. He has also been in many other children's theater productions.
"The show's fantastic," said Donna Worshoufsky, Michael's mother. "The spring musical is a combined effort between the two middle schools— West Hollow and Candlewood."
Petrucci said there is a lot of work that goes into directing a show, but the reward is always seeing the kids act, sing, dance, and perform. "It is amazing that this is the production team's (Ms. Georges, Mrs. Regan and Mrs. Hohf) third fall musical production together," he said.
Petrucci added, "We will miss our eighth graders moving on to the high school, but wish them the best of luck. We are very proud of their accomplishments so far."
Into The Woods will run Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20. Showtime is at 7 p.m.
