West Hollow Middle School  "Day of Giving" was dedicated to the men and women serving in the military.  This year, two students from team 6-3 have fathers serving in the military.

Sergeant Omar Pinate, father of Hafsah Pinate, is currently serving in Germany.

Chief Master Sergeant Vincent Fondacaro is the father of Courtney Fondacaro. Courtney's father has just begun a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

For the day of giving, the students donated various toiletries (like toothpaste, lip balm, deodorant, etc.). They carefully put together care packages ready to be sent over to Afghanistan. In addition, the team collected books and cell phones for the soldiers.

Team 6-3 Lead by Ms. Chiam, Mrs. Deringer, Mrs. Kouvel, Mrs. Papachristou, Mrs. Parisi and Mrs. Singeream gathered in the cafeteria and wrote thank-you letters to the two team fathers. The students sent thanks and well wishes.  They also worked in groups to produce a video message for those two fathers.  Bookmarks were decorated to be sent with the donated books.

Today was the culmination of their month of giving.  The first week of December, Team 6-3 raised over $600 for Free the Children, an organization started by middle school children with the goal of building schools in some of the poorest countries in the world.
