Getting 'Schooled' By Tobias Harris

The NBA Bucks player and Hills West graduate creates clinic for rising athletes.

If you want to be a professional athlete, then it's time to get down to business.

That's the message of graduate and Milwaukee Bucks player who is creating his own basketball clinic.

The Tobias Harris School of Business Basketball Camp, which will be held at the Hills West gym, is an intense three-day skill-building program starting Aug. 1, for young players who are serious about making the sport a part of their future.

"If you are a gym rat who loves basketball and wants to be around the game all the time, then this is the camp to take your game to the next level," he boasts on the program flyer.

The campers will work with Harris and other professional trainers to develop their skills in every position on the court. Passing, ball handling, shooting, rebounding, footwork, defense and teamwork are all the essential ingredients to be molded into a well-developed player. Daily workouts and routines are expected to push the limits of the young athletes and expand their potential to play on the collegiate or professional level.

Harris, who regularly to help out the campers, said he decided to create the camp because many of the young players remind him of the type of kid he was during his days in the school gym.

"I look around here and I see kids in the same position I was," he said. "We're going to be working hard. I'm going to show them what hard work is all about."

The camp is split into two sessions: Aug. 1-3 is the Sr. Elite Camp for grades eight-12. The second session runs Aug. 8 - 12, and is for the younger players grades fifth -12th.
