Following bankruptcy filing, fashion designer decides to close most of her stores including the location in Deer Park.
The Betsey Johnson store at Tanger Outlets in Deer Park will soon be vacant following the recent announcement that the fashion designer’s company filed for bankruptcy protection and will close most of its 63 stores. According to a recent report in the Wall St. Journal citing court documents, the company was in the final stages of a deal to sell its assets earlier this month when the would-be buyer "abruptly" backed out of the deal. A Forbes report indicated that 350 employees would “likely” lose their jobs as a result of the store closures. The report also said that the company has “severe liquidity problems” and $4.1 million in outstanding unsecured obligations to various vendors, manufacturers and service providers. Winners of the Seventh Annual Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation Competition are announced.
The music of Chopin, Beethoven, Kabalevsky and more filled the Steinway & Sons Used Piano Gallery, as Long Island students put their abilities to the test in the Seventh-Annual Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation Competition. Students were placed in categories according to their age and skill. The Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation is a non-profit organization of professional music educators. The organization works to provide recitals for performance opportunities for our students, such as the competition held at the Steinway gallery. Cassandra Ye, a fourth grader at Paumanok Elementary School took second place in the Late Intermediate Division for her playing of Le Petit Negre by C. Debussy. A recent survey shows Pathmark shoppers aren't satisfied with their experience.
A national supermarket survey released by Consumer Reports found that Pathmark customers have the worst experience of any supermarket chain in the United States. Pathmark topped the list, and according to this slideshow, 75 percent of those polled had at least one complaint about shopping at the New Jersey-based chain, which has locations on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon and on Old Country Road in Dix Hills. Food quality, price and cleanliness concerns weighed on Pathmark, which is a unit of A&P. Waldbaum's, which is also owned by A&P and has a locations in Deer Park and Melville, avoided the list. its sad to see the stores close, i hope they can still pay there employees, and not take money from there 401k funds through penalty fees to help aleviate there shortness of funds, or put a freeze on them, steve madden should have taken full control when he bailed them out, seems to me the people running the co. werent doing a good job, Betsey and Chantel seemed to be doing good when it was just …   more ›
