Before a large and loud crowd that filled the Hills East Gym, the Hills East Wrestling Team was edged by Central Islip. This was the wrestling team's last home meet of the season and was Senior Night. The T-Birds will lose 11 wrestlers to graduation this year.
Graduating Seniors are: Matt Haenel, Michael Morris, Maleik Henry, Justin Isaza, Connor Quinlan, Lance Koplitz, Cedric Pompey, Damon Aguilar, Joe Long, Josh Sycoff, and Ben Dukoff. Their leadership and skill will be missed.
As is wrestling tradition, the Seniors left their wrestling shoes on the mat after their last home match. The season is not over yet, though, with the T-Birds away at Northport Friday night and at John Glenn Saturday for a tournament. Leagues and Counties will follow.
