5 Fun Things To Do With The Kids This Weekend

Take a break from the turkey leftovers and holiday shopping and treat your kids to one of these fun, family-friendly activities this Thanksgiving weekend.

1 - See the free movie Toy Story 3 (2010) being shown at the on Friday night at 7 p.m. Andy's toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before he leaves for college and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home. This movie is rated G and is 103 minutes long.

2 - Get a jump start on the holiday season at . This Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. come take your own free holiday photos with Santa and Fluffy the Snowman against their extra large hand painted backgrounds. Your paid $7.95 + tax admission also includes use of picnic areas, all playgrounds (still open outdoors) and the animal farm and petting zoo.

3 - The TB Youth Theater Series presents the live children's show 'Frosty' at the John Engeman Theater in Northport on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the box office or on-line at http://www.johnwengemantheater.com/.

4 - On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., visit in Airport Plaza in Farmingdale as they host Storytime. Young people and their parents/caregivers are invited to join in for a free fun and entertaining hour to hear the latest children stories being published as well as sharing cookies and drinks.

5 - There are numerous family friendly live shows playing at local theaters this weekend. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is being performed at The BayWay Arts Center on Main Street in East Islip Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10. The Sound of Music comes to The John W. Engeman Theater on Main Street in Northport. Tickets are $60 and are available for the shows on Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.  Annie opens at The Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts on East Main Street in Smithtown. Performances are Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $18 to $32.
