5 Things To Do With The Kids This New Year's Weekend

Here are some ways to entertain the kids this weekend, including making ice-cream, learning how to juggle, seeing a show, bowling or playing some gaga.

Here are some ways to entertain the kids this weekend, including making ice-cream, learning how to juggle, seeing a show, bowling or playing some gaga.

  1.  The Long Island Children's Museum hosts a kid-centered New Year's party on Friday from noon to 4:30 p.m. Activities will include a Times Square-style ball drop at 4 p.m. from the second story of the museum and a circus celebration with National Circus Project, including juggling workshops, stilt walking and unicycle fun. This event is for kids age 5 and up and is free with museum admission of $10 per person.
  2. Bring the kids to the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum on Sunday to learn about the amazing science of ice! They will take part in an icy science experiment, paint with colored ice and make ice cream with melted ice. Sessions are either 1 or 3 p.m. and costs $8 per person. All ages are welcome to attend. Reserve your spot by calling 631-367-3418.
  3.  Ultimate Gaga on Underhill Road in Syosset will be offering "Open Play" from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. Open play will include Gaga, basketball and arcade games. Games will be grouped by age. Kids ages 12 and over may be dropped off. There will be refreshments for sale. Cost of open play is $15 per child.

Over at the  in Northport, "Frosty" will be performed live this Sunday at 10 a.m. Join Frosty the Snowman and his friend Jenny as they try to save Chillsville from the evil Ethel Pierpot's plan to melt all the snow-including Frosty! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the box office, by calling 631-261-2900 or online.
  5. Celebrate an early New Year's Eve with the kids at 300 Bowling Long Island located on Walt Whitman Road in Melville from 3-6 p.m. Packages include bowling, shoe rentals, salad, pizza buffet, unlimited fountain drinks, party favors and a balloon drop.
