Breast Cancer Survivor Now Faces Leukemia

Local mother and grandmother-to-be in urgent need of bone marrow transplant.

Marcia Jabick, a Deer Park mother and grandmother-to-be who survived breast cancer is now battling a rare form of leukemia.

Suffolk County Legis. Steve Stern (D-Huntington), who lives in Dix Hills, is asking residents of the Half Hollow Hills community to register to become bone marrow donors this Saturday, July 30 from 11-5 p.m. at the Deer Park Community Center (41 Homer Ave., Deer Park).

Jablick's only only chance for survival is a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor, Stern said in a statement. The test is a simple, free cheek swab to determine compatibility.
