It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

1. Cabaret, the Musical

Where/When: The John W, Engeman Theater, 250 Main St, Northport; Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Why Go: It's opening weekend for this winner of eight Tony Awards including best musical. It's about the interlocking stories of a cabaret singer, Sally Bowles, a writer from America, Clifford Bradshaw, the seedy Kit Kat Klub and the increasing influence of the Nazis in 1931 Berlin.

Where/When: 98 Gwynne Rd, Melville (Sweet Hollow Hall in West Hills County Park); Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

3. , the Musical

Where/When: The Cultural Arts Playhouse, 625 Old Country Rd, Plainview; Saturday 8 p.m.

Why Go: Closing night of Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical, based loosely on Puccini's opera "La Bohème," which follows a year in the lives of seven friends living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York's East Village.

Where/When: Walt Whitman Birthplace, 246 Old Walt Whitman Rd, Dix Hills; Sunday 1-4 p.m.

Why Go: Prior to your Super Bowl plans, join the Long Island Poetry Collective at this open mic poetry competition.

Pricing: $10 donation, includes food and beverage.

Where/When: The , Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: This group of tap dancers, ranging in age from 54 to over 80, perform selections from Broadway shows, old-time favorites and modern popular music. Their performances are sophisticated, professional and energetic and their costumes are spectacular.
