Dec. 1: Injured Student, Israel Reacts to McCain

1. A Hills East senior was injured in a hit and run Wednesday afternoon outside of the high school as he attempted to walk across Vanderbilt Parkway. The student was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, but police said no minor injuries were sustained.

2. It is not the first accident outside of the Hills East, and a petition to add a traffic light and crosswalk at the location has re-emerged due to yesterday's incident.

3. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) attempted to make a joke during a Senate debate Wednesday evening...at Long Island's expense. The 2008 presidential candidate said that Long Island is "sometimes regrettably" a part of the United States. Rep. Steve Israel (D-Dix Hills) made a playful comeback on Twitter, saying that he is sending McCain some Long Island bagels, then asking him for an update on his views. 

4. Today is World AIDS Day. Wear a red ribbon to support the cause of ending the disease.
