Local fire fighters seeking a variety of items to help fire departments decimated by Hurricane Sandy.

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund and the Dix Hills Fire Department are teaming to help collect much needed items for volunteer fire departments in Breezy Point.

The Point Breeze, Rockaway Point and Roxbury volunteer fire departments were devastated by Hurricane Sandy and are lacking critical supplies to assist in their response efforts, officials said.

Members in those departments are in need of high rubber boots, waders, new socks, jackets and gloves, hand warmers, battery-operated flashlights and batteries. The fire departments are also accepting gift cards to The Home Depot and Target in any amount.
