Thanksgiving Food Drive at Dix Hills Shop & Stop

Supermarket joins Island Harvest to bring all the trimmings to tables of families in need.

The Dix Hills Stop & Shop is partnering with Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization to bring a full Thanksgiving meal to Long Island families in need.

The supermarket joined Island Harvest’s annual Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign to give struggling Long Islanders the chance to enjoy a traditional holiday meal.

Customers in Half Hollow Hills can do their part by purchasing a pre-packaged bag trimmings for consisting of stuffing mix, canned corn, cranberry sauce, fruit cocktail, turkey gravy and cut yams for $7.50 at the Dix Hills Stop & Shop (1100 Jericho Turnpike) between now and Dec. 30.

To complete the Thanksgiving meal, Stop & Shop is also donating 1,700 turkeys to Long Island’s food banks as part of its Turkey Express program that will deliver nearly 20,000 turkeys to hunger relief organizations in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Connecticut this holiday season.

The donations will help provide critical food support to nearly 300,000 Long Islanders — including over 110,000 children — who know the effects of hunger first hand.
