Five Very Unique Individuals

Dix Hills has been the home of a lot of interesting personalities.

Here at Dix Hills Patch, we've had the pleasure of meeting a number of very interesting people. Now they can't really be considered celebrities, but still, they are very interesting and it was definitely worth turning the spotlight on them.

A baker/rocker, a serial entrepreneur, a Renaissance man, the son of a Holocaust survivor and an upcoming band out of Five Towns College....those are just a few of the interesting personalities we've gotten to meet.

not only turns out delicious bagels and cupcakes at his store, Steve's Hot Bagels and Bakery on Deer Park Avenue, he also moonlights as Jon Bon Jovi in a Bon Jovi tribute band, Bad Medicine. And to make it more interesting, this HHH alumnus has alopecia--which means he has no hair, anywhere, yet is a dead ringer for Bon Jovi. Check him out. You'll be glad you did.

calls himself a serial entrepreneur. This HHH alumnus said, "I've failed more times that I've succeeded. But it's not how many times you fail or succeed, but how you handle the failures and learn from them. I've also learned that it's important to surround yourself with people who are smarter than you—people who have traits you don't have. This way you make a great team."

His latest team has created Mosaic Legends, a digital art company. And they are definitely on the road to success. Check him out too.

The last of the chosen five is not a person, but a band. An up-and-coming band from Five Towns College, called . The band is trying to make an EP. They are finishing up the recording and mixing right now. Their next show is at Crash Mansion in New York City, Sunday, December 19. They are also on Facebook and YouTube

"We're still getting our stuff together," bass player Sam Propper said. "One day at a time."

They're good. You'll want to say you knew them when.

Personally, I can't wait to see who we meet in 2011. Stay tuned to see who the spotlight is turned on next.
