Introducing the Long Island Summer Guide

There's too much happening out here in the warmer months not to gather all of the great Patch coverage in one place.

Now that it's unofficially summer, it's time to unveil our 2012 Long Island Summer Guide, a Long Island-wide collection of articles, guides, event previews and other goodies that shine a sunbeam on the region's unique summer spirit.

While our hyperlocal coverage in each community focuses on the governments, school districts and business centers that make each community distinct, when it comes to Summer on Long Island, there's far too much at our disposal to only stay in our necks of the woods.

While Nassau families might head to the North Fork for a day among the farms, just as many Suffolk families are headed to the boardwalk in Long Beach to stroll, eat and maybe even surf.

The Long Island Summer Guide will feature different regional content each week, including an LI-wide calendar of the top Summer events, wrap-ups that spotlight the special character of these Summer attractions, galleries where users can upload their Summer snapshots and guides to things such as beaches, wineries and family-friendly hot spots.

This week we're kicking it off with a regional Readers' Choice poll on the Island's best beach, a gallery where you could upload all of your great photos from Memorial Day weekend and our Summer Beach Guide, among other things.

See you at the beach!
