July 2: Israel Calling on Feds to Curb Drunk Driving

Here are five things to know about today in Half Hollow Hills.

1. After wave of fatal crashes on Long Island, Congressman Steve Israel (D-Huntington will join officers from the Nassau County Police Department and members of MADD Long Island today to call for bipartisan legislation to be passed that would authorize unused federal highway safety funds to be used toward a federal program aimed at curbing drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel. 

2. Receive a pair of New York Mets tickets in exchange for tomorrow at the of the Half Hollow Hills Community Library. Call (631) 421-4530 to sign up. 

3. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone laid out several economic development plans last week meant to spur business. One roadway under consideration for a is Route 110. The bus service would quickly shuttle commuters from the North Shore communities to the South Shore, Bellone said.

4. The  is looking for donations of empty bags, food, clothing, household items, baby items, books, etc to share. Drop off goods or time at Fairground Ave & E 6th St, Huntington Station, every Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
