June 28: Quiet Car Program Starts on LIRR

Here are five things to know about today in Half Hollow Hills.

1. Last week, the  quiet car pilot program took effect on all peak single-level electric trains to and from Penn Station. The first car on morning peak trains and last car on afternoon peak trains – is now free of cell-phone conversations, sound from other electronic devices and loud conversations.

3. LIPA is warning customers about a new claiming that President Obama will pay your utility bills through a new federal program. While there have been no reports of customers victimized by this latest scam, LIPA encourages anyone contacted to notify local law enforcement officials in your area to investigate.
