June 6: New 'I [Heart] NY' Logo

Here are five things to know about today in Half Hollow Hills.

1. The 'I [Heart] NY' tourism logo is getting a transplant. As part of a summer tourism advertising push, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and tourism officials are asking New Yorkers and visitors to submit ideas for other symbols that could appear in place of the iconic heart within the logo.

2. Celebrate the new Big Nate and Stink books and leave with a slimy surprise during a , 7 p.m. Register at the library, online here or call 631-421-4530.

3. The Art League of Long Island is holding a photography competition focused on cultural diversity. To obtain an application, you can download prospectus here, visit our artist opportunities page at www.artleagueli.org, or call (631) 462-5400. The gallery is accepting applications now through Monday, June 18.

4. By month's end,  branches based in New York Stop & Shop locations. That includes the  on East Jericho Turnpike.
