Here are some of the top events going on around town today.

Here is a sampling of some of the events happening in Dix Hills/Melville today, Friday, February 18. For a complete listing, please browse the events calendar on the Dix Hills Patch site.

  1. Bring the kids to Barnes and Noble on Jericho Turnpike for free "" from 10:30-11 a.m. where a Barnes and Noble staff member will be reading stories to young children.
  2. Come play this afternoon from 1-4 p.m. at the . This is an informal session; no game instruction will be available. Bring your own game equipment. No registration required.
  3. The shows the free independent film, "" at 2 p.m. today. This 2008 film is an urban love story about the soul of a mother, the heart of a fighter, and the faith of a child. It is unrated and is 93 minutes long. No registration is required.
  4. At 7:30 p.m. tonight, at Five Towns College presents the tribute band, "," performing the music of the legendary Led Zeppelin. Tickets are $20-$30 and can be purchased online or at the box office by calling 631-656-2148.
  5. It's at the Rosewood Inn tonight. From 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. come join Dix Hills resident DJ Patty, voted "Best Karaoke on Long Island" by News12, for Karaoke Madness.
