Mets Tix for Blood, Food Donations at Dix Hills Library

In return for generosity, donors will enjoy a free MLB game.

Saving a life is a big deal. That's why the Dix Hills branch of the  is rewarding donors with free tickets to a New York Mets game during a blood and food drive Tuesday, July 3.

From 1-7 p.m., residents who donate a pint of blood and five non-perishable food items will receive a pair of Mets tickets to a home game in return.

Long Island Blood Services and Island Harvest are working together to sponsor the "Feed the Need" event, to help the hungry and make sure the summer blood inventory stays at adequate levels during the Fourth of July holiday week.

“The summer months and especially the Fourth of July holiday pose quite a challenge for us,” said NYBC Vice President Rob Purvis. “Most people are busy with their summer activities. ‘Feed the Need’ is a great solution to not only our needs but also the hunger problem on Long Island.”

Registration for the event is requested, but walk-ins are welcome. Register by calling 631-421-4530 or stopping by the library.

Eligibility Criteria:
• ID with signature and photo
• Minimum weight 110 lbs
• Age 16-75 (16 year olds must have parental
permission); Age 76 and over need a Doctor’s note)
• Eat well (low fat) & drink fluids
• No tattoos for past 12 months
