A four-year reign over the first place title in The Great Cow Harbor Run has been toppled. Fernando Cabada took the title Saturday from Mo Trafeh, who holds the course record.Cabada, 28, finished the race in 29 minutes and 32 seconds.
Tree Hazard Closes Part of Park Avenue
Part of Park Avenue near Huntington Hospital was closed off Wednesday because a hazard caused by the attempted removal of a tree. Officials said the no permit had been granted initially for the work and, with utility wires and the street nearby, the removal was shut down.

Smithtown school district officials have officially joined part of a growing movement against high-stakes standardized testing on Long Island Tuesday night.
Smithtown Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a resolution that challenges New York State Educational Department review its current system and the federal government to overhaul the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, better known as the "No Child Left Behind Act."
Commack Woman Wakes to House in Flames
A Commack woman woke up Thursday morning to find her home in flames.
The homeowner was awoken by the smell of smoke and then saw the blaze coming from her basement around 7:30 a.m.When the Commack Fire Department arrived to the home at 23 August Crescent Road, they found basement filled with heavy flames and smoke billowing into the rest of the home.
