Oct. 19: Stephen Baldwin at Walt Whitman Mall

1. The Dix Hills Fire District approved the 2012 budget Tuesday evening with a spending plan of $4,686,162. The Melville Fire District also discussed its budget set at $4,766,374.

2. Actor will be at the Walt Whitman Mall today to host a special breast cancer awareness event. There will be a free cocktail recception in Saks Fifth Avenue with wine tastings, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, raffles and gifts with purchases to raise awareness of breast cancer and to benfit the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund in honor of his mother. The event starts at 7 p.m.

3. Children in grades K-5 can receive today at the  from 4-5 p.m.

4. Talk show host will be at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park tomorrow for a breast cancer awareness event. Starting at 5 p.m., shoppers are invited to join Williams in an evening of cocktails and music in an effort to raise funds for breast cancer research.
