Pinelawn Road Bridge Reopens

Some work will continue to to restore area, move utilities.

The Pinelawn Road bridge over the Long Island Expressway has reopened to traffic, the state Department of Transportation said Tuesday.

The agency said work is mostly completed though work to relocate utilities and restore the area will continue and may require single travel lane closures during off-peak travel times.

Construction began in the spring. The concrete bridge deck was demolished at night during two weeks of nighttime closures. The deck was replaced, steel was repaired, sidewalks were reconstructed and curb and the bridge rail was replaced.
