Remembering Irene One Year Later

Tuesday marks the anniversary of the day the tropical storm touched Long Island.

It was one year ago today that hardware stores were running out of batteries, windows were taped and trees were falling to the ground as Tropical Storm Irene swept Long Island.

Irene was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm by the time it hit Half Hollow Hills, but its gusts still did major damage to the area. Look through the photo gallery above to remember Irene, one year later.
