Storytime, A Jungle Show and Frosty!

Here are some local activities to do with the kids this weekend, Jan 15 and 16.

  1.  On Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m., bring your 2-6 year olds (must be accompanied by an adult) to the of the HHH Community Library to hear some fun stories and make a simple craft. Register by calling the library at 631-421-4535.
  2. Also on Saturday sign your child up for a 15-minute block of time to read a story to one of the certified, local therapy dogs! Time slots available are 11-11:15 a.m., 11:15-11:30 a.m., 11:30-11:45 a.m. or 11:45-12 p.m. Register at 631-421-4530.
  3. Barnes and Noble on Route 110 will be hosting a free event on Saturday at 11 a.m. This special storytime will feature two books on anti-bullying, One by Kathryn Otoshi and Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. It only takes one person to make a change, and that person could be you. Families with children are all welcome.
  4.  This is the last weekend to bring the kids to see "" at the John W. Engeman Theater on Main Street in Northport. Join Frosty the Snowman and his friend Jenny as they try to save Chillsville from the evil Ethel Pierpot's plan to melt all the snow-including Frosty! Performances are Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 631-261-2900.
  5. The NYCB Theatre at Westbury welcomes "Jack Hanna: Into the Wild," Sunday at 1 p.m.  This live show features favorite animal friends as well as fascinating stories and footage from his adventures around the world. Tickets are $29 and $49 plus fees. Purchase your tickets online at Live Nation.
