Holiday Season Kicks Off at Tanger in Deer Park

Hundreds of screaming fans attended the show, while some lined up nearly 14 hours early for Austin Mahone concert.

Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park kicked off the holiday season with a visit from the Radio City Rockettes, Santa and a performance by Austin Mahone on Saturday, Nov. 17.

I was really disappointed by the extremely loud music playing and having to get through the crowds of crying girls while trying to do the Christmas activities with my young children. We couldn't see the ice skaters because the concert crowd was set up there around the rink. We couldn't talk to Santa because he was set up behind the stage and there were speakers pointed there. Luckily a couple of the events were off to the side (liking taking the photoshopped pictures) so we got to do that, but it took so long to get around we didn't get to do facepainting or balloons and my girls were very disappointed. Overall last year was way better because the concert was down one alley of stores and we could get around the rink and do activities there.

You may want to ask them to hold a private event for you next year to avoid the crowds ;)

Or... they could do the teeny bopper concert another day and maybe pick a band more suitable for families and the Christmas Tree Lighting. My daughter is in a wheelchair and I saw many other people there in wheelchairs trying to enjoy the Christmas activities having a hard time getting around. The security guards could not handle the crowds of unsupervised kids. If they want to have a concert where young girls come out and wait from 3am the night before (they announced this), perhaps they shouldn't do that when they have also invited families to enjoy other activities. It's pretty silly to try to talk to Santa when there is very loud rock music being blasted in your ear. Last year was nothing like this year and the changes they made this year obviously didn't work for families. I saw many disgruntled parents leaving while their kids cried that they wanted to meet Santa. So perhaps next year they should make a "private event" for ALL the families who actually want to enjoy kicking off the Christmas season and the lighting of the tree.
