Walt Handelsman To Teach Campers His Funny Strokes

Cartoonist will visit local art students at the Usdan Center for Performing Arts.

Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Walt Handelsman will visit the Usdan Center for Performing Arts in Wheatley Heights Tuesday to share his tips and techniques with local campers.

Handelsman, an editorial cartoonist for Newsday, is one of the most widely reprinted cartoonist in America. His pieces are syndicated by Tribune Media Services in Chicago to more than 200 newspapers around the country and internationally. 

Handelsman has won every major journalism award for cartooning excellence including the 1997 Pulitzer Prize, the 1989 and 1993 National Headliner Award, the 1992 Society of Professional Journalists Award, the 1996 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the 2003 Scripps Howard National Journalism award.
