Wild Women of Comedy Deliver Laughs For A Good Cause

Performing at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center, the Wild Women of Comedy deliver real life comedy.

Recently, the Wild Women of Comedy group took the stage at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center.  From 7:30 to 10:30, the audience roared with laughter as the comedians came on one after the other, delivering real-life adult comedy.  The event was held to help raise money to support 'Team Shane," a group to aid in the recovery of a teenage boy who was severely injured in a car accident this past November.

Opening up the show was a guest appearance by television news anchorwoman Michelle Imperato.  She told the audience about Shane, and brought his mother on stage to a round of a applause.  "It's a struggle everyday, but we're plugging along," said Shane's mother Patty.  "Comedy is our teflon, it's the only pain relief that works for me sometimes."  The event proved to be a wonderful remedy for everyone.

Hosted by famous comedians and co-founders of the Wild Women of Comedy, Kit Stewart and Anne Lipuma, they brought their real-time experiences to the crowd, and introduced each of the acts.  The comedians were Gina Scarda, Nanci Richards, Veronica Mosey and Lynne Koplitz.

Gina Scarda talked about growing up in an Italian household.  She spent 20 years working with the New York City police department, and has since gone on to pursue her dreams as a comedian.  She won "Long Island's Funniest Competition," and plays Loretta Nuzzolo on the web series "Something about Ryan."  Nanci Richards took the Staten Island lifestyle and Brooklyn attitude to the stage.  She works as a NYC public school teacher and performs at comedy clubs throughout the northeast.

Veronica Mosey brought her brutal honesty to the crowd, sharing her experiences as a no-holds-barred comedian.  She was listed on Rolling Stone magazine's "Five Comics to Watch" list, and has been seen on Comedy Central, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," HBO's "Last Comic Standing" and "Oprah."

Lynne Koplitz concluded the night with hilarious and honest perspectives on men and women.  She has performed on Comedy Central, and was listed number 13 in the "Funniest Comics Top 20" on their "StandUp Show Down."  She will be performing alongside Joan Rivers in WE's upcoming reality series Mother Knows Best.

From beginning to end, the audience did not stop laughing.  One Dix Hills resident shared her impressions:  "This really surprised me.  I've been to a lot of comedy shows, but tonight was top notch.  It's wonderful to see such talent on one stage, and in my little town.  I loved every second of it."

The Wild Women of Comedy will be performing on March 26th at the Smithtown Sheraton Hotel.  They will be raising funds to support research for The American Cancer Society, and their Relay for Life at Bethpage.
