Art League of LI Holding Photography Competition

Cultural diversity is subject for the Dix Hills art gallery exhibit.

Cultural diversity is the foucs for an upcoming photography competition and exhibit at the , located in Dix Hills.

The exhibit is an effort to inspire genuine dialogue among cultures, the Art League states. Artistic interpretations capturing the essence of cultural diversity in any form of photography including those shot on film, shot digitally, unaltered shots, alternative process, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, photograms, etc. will be accepted as long as part of the image is photographically created and the photo is original to the artist.

The exhibition juror is renowned photographer Joseph Szabo, whose body of work over the past 25 years has focused on teen subjects, capturing the ambivalence of that period of life. Szabo's work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennial, the International Center of Photography, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Brooklyn Museum and the Heckscher Museum of Art, among others. His work has been collected by many institutions including the Bibliotheque National in Paris, France, the George Eastman House Museum in Rochester, New York, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The gallery is accepting applications now through Monday, June 18. The exhibit will take place in the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery from August 4 - September 2.
