Dix Hills Performing Arts Center Summer Shows Announced

Headliners include singer Julie Budd, comedian Marilyn Michaels and Uncle Floyd.

Hot weather meets cool programing including sensational divas, soaring rock guitars, great impressions, comedy and more this summer as the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center presents a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, including performances by the extraordinary Julie Budd, funny girl Marilyn Michaels, Uncle Floyd and a host of other international favorites.

Ribbons of Hope – On Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 pm. Dix Hills will host The Ribbons of Hope Benefit Concert featuring Carine and Soul Dr. G’s All-Star Veteran Band. Together they will collaborate to create a fun and exciting evening to honor women who have battled and won, those who battle now, and those who have lost the battle against breast cancer. Proceeds will benefit related charities. Tickets are $30.

Dean Karahalis – On June 14, July 19 and Aug. 8, all at 7:30 pm. The Center will present Summer Evenings with Dean Karahalis and the Five Towns College Concert Pops Orchestra. Tickets are $10.

Walking The Line  On June 16 at 7:30 pm. The Center will celebrate what would have been singer/songwriter Johnny Cash’s 80th birthday with a performance of his music featuring the band “Walking The Line,” the Johnny Cash tribute touring production lead by Tom Cavanaugh in a special retrospective performance. Tickets are $35, $30 and $25.*

ONCE UPON A TIME - The Music of Charles Strouse from Broadway to Hollywood  – 
On Friday, June 19 at 7:30 pm. with Musical Direction by Marie Danvers and Arnie Gruber in a musical revue of some the most memorable and notable hits from the Charles Strouse Songbook which includes material from Bye Bye Birdie, Annie, Rags, Golden Boy, Applause and more. Tickets are $10.

The Jet Setters – On July 7 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present The Jet Setters in a musical celebration of the songs made famous by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Temptations, The Hollies, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, The Turtles, and other groups that defined the Feel-Good Music of the 1960s. The show is produced by Broadway’s Aaron Gandy. Tickets are $50, $45, $40 and $35.*

Julie Budd – On July 14 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present premiere vocalist Julie Budd performing “Gershwin and More” including songs by Barry Manilow, Carol King and Elton John. Julie Budd, considered one of America’s great interpreters of popular songs, has shared the stage with such legendary artists are Frank Sinatra, Liberace, Bill Cosby and many, many more. Tickets are $50, $45, $40 and $35. * 

Guitar Greats – On July 20 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present tributes to two legendary artists. The Clapton Chronicles will perform the music of Eric Clapton; and Milagro will entertain with a tribute to Santana. Tickets are $35, $30 and $25.*

Tom LaGravinese – On July 21 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present entertainer, comedian and singing impressionist Tom LaGravinese, who will bring back the legends of the entertainment world with spot-on impersonations of artists from Elvis and Sinatra to Groucho Marx. Tickets are $50, $45, $40 and $35. *

Tramps Like Us On July 27 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present a Tribute to Bruce Springsteen featuring Tramps Like Us, whose repertoire of more than 100 songs by Bruce, will make its Long Island debut here in Dix Hills. Tickets are $35, $30 and $25. *

Marilyn Michaels – On July 28 at 7:30 pm. The Center is thrilled to present Marilyn Michaels, America’s premier woman of 1,000 faces and voices in “A Funny Girl Revisited.” Marilyn is recognized worldwide for her witty satire, brilliant impressions and powerful singing style. Tickets are $50, $45, $40 and $35. *

Judith Alstadter – On July 29 at 2 pm. The Center will present concert pianist, music educator, lecturer and recording artist Judith Alstadter performing Women Composers: Romantic to Ragtime in an upbeat program of works by 19th and early 20th century European composers. Tickets are $15 and $10 for seniors and students.

An Exciting Night of Latin Entertainment with the Music of the Tropics –
On Aug. 3 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present an evening of Latin Music focusing on the Music of the Tropics, featuring the styles of Salsa, Mambo and more, featuring vocalists Sammy Gonzales Jr. and Luisito Ayala and the bands. Tickets are $20.

Tribute to Bobby Darin On Aug. 4 at 7:30 pm. The Center and Arnie Gruber Music will present renowned vocalist Lou Villano in “My Music – My Life” in a special tribute to the late Bobby Darin.  Tickets are $50, $45, $40 and $35.*

Uncle Floyd – On Aug. 11 at 7:30 pm. The Center will present the inimitable “Uncle Floyd” Vivino, the film, radio, television and recording artist and Dix Hills perennial favorite, whose comedy continues to raise the roof here. Tickets are $20.
