Damn Yankees - John W. Engeman Theater

DAMN YANKEES is set in Washington, D.C. during the 1950's – a time when the New York Yankees dominated baseball.  When Joe Boyd, a middle-aged, die-hard Washington Senators fan, suffers another frustrating loss to the Yankees, he states he would "sell his soul for one long ball hitter."  Suddenly, a mysterious stranger appears who offers to make Joe's wish come true – in fact, Joe himself will be the player to lead the Senators over the hated Yankees.  The price, however, is Joe's eternal soul.  Joe accepts the offer, and is transformed into the young, strong slugger Joe Hardy. His astonishing success leads the Senators to a showdown with the Yankees on the final day of the season. However, as Joe reflects on the life he left behind, he begins to wonder if he made a mistake – and how he can return to his old life.  With songs such as Heart, Whatever Lola Wants,  and Shoeless Joe From Hannibal, MO, DAMN YANKEES is the perfect musical comedy both the theater and sports enthusiast will love.
