Recreating the Best of Billy Joel

Enjoy the music of Long Island's own piano man at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center.

The presents “Captain Jack,” performing the greatest hits of Billy Joel and other top artists on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. 

Captain Jack is a professional band that performs the music of Billy Joel and other timeless hits. The New York-based rock band is a frequent and popular attraction at regional rock clubs, and is also known for appearances at top charity, corporate and social events. Captain Jack has appeared with many internationally-acclaimed musicians and has garnered strong press coverage for headlining major fundraisers and other special events throughout the New York area.

The band features Michael Lipiner on lead vocals and keyboards with Harry Marks on guitar and vocals; Sal DiMarco on drums; Andrew Segale on saxophone, clarinet and percussion, and Frank Tassielli on bass guitar.

Captain Jack always aims to please by taking requests and surprising audiences with an energetic performance of the Piano Man's acclaimed repertoire, beginning with some of Joel’s earlier titles, and also recreating popular tunes from other well-known artists.

Billy Joel is the sixth top selling recording artist in U.S. history and third highest selling solo artist according to the RIAA, which tracks music sales. He is a six-time Grammy Award winner, a 23-time Grammy nominee and has sold over 150 million records worldwide. Additionally, he has 33 Top-40 hits to his credit. Born in the Bronx, raised in Hicksville, and now living out on the East End, Joel is a member of the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Long Island Hall of Fame.

Joel himself has also performed on the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center’s stage, giving a master class exclusively for Five Towns College music students in 1993. He also earned an Honorary Doctorate from the college. Captain Jack has also been on the Dix Hills stage before and was welcomed by a capacity crowd. 

“Billy Joel is one of Long Island’s most iconic performers, whose music helped to influence and shape Long Island’s sound,” said Sandy Hinden, Executive Director of the Center. “Captain Jack faithfully recreates that experience. Audiences never leave disappointed.”
