20-Year-Old Dix Hills Man Killed in Crash on LIE

Blake Marcus dies in crash in Melville Sunday morning.

A 20-year-old Dix Hills man was killed in a single-car crash on the Long Island Expressway in Melville Sunday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Blake Marcus was driving a 2001 Acura eastbound on the LIE when he apparently lost control of the vehicle just east of Exit 49 around 4:25 a.m., police said.

The vehicle struck and broke through a guardrail on the south side of the roadway causing the car to slide down the embankment into a wooded area, police said.

Both Marcus and his passenger, Dorian America, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section officers and Melville Fire Department personnel.

Marcus was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center. America, 21, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
