N. Babylon Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Dix Hills Border

Anthony Jacovino, 38, dies in crash Thursday morning.

A North Babylon man was killed Thursday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck on the Dix Hills border in Commack, police said. 

Police say Anthony Jacovino, 38, was riding southbound on Commack Road shortly before 5 a.m. when his motorcycle was hit by truck, which was headed westbound on Vanderbilt Parkway. 

Jacovino was ejected from the motorcycle, which then caught fire, police said.  Jacovino was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the truck, George Custance, 50, of South Plainfield, N.J., was not injured in the crash. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
