Police: Deer Park Man Charged in Dix Hills Burglary

Police arrest James Lovret, 30, Sunday afternoon.

A Deer Park man was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with burglarizing three homes, including one in Dix Hills, police said.

James Lovret, 30, was arrested following a burglary on Baldwin Path in Dix Hills earlier on Sunday, police said.

First Squad detectives were responding to investigate the Dix Hills burglary when they canvassed the nearby area at 4:45 p.m, police said. Detectives located a suspect on Pine Acres Boulevard and Old Country Road in Deer Park and subsequently charged Lovret with second degree burglary.

A further investigation determined that Lovret, of Christopher Court in Deer Park, was responsible for two other burglaries on his block last month and he was charged with two additional counts of second degree burglary, police said.

Lovret was held overnight in the First Precinct and was due to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this burglary or others in the area to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
