Building Council Praises Election Results

Pally says results show pro-development candidates can win.

Election results in Huntington won praise this week from Mitch Pally, CEO of the Long Island Builders Institute.

Pally cited the re-election of Town Supervisor Frank Petrone and Town Board member Mark Cuthbertson, and election of newcomer Tracey Edwards who have long supported such projects as AvalonBay and other projects in town.

“The results in Suffolk County’s elections across the board will be good for the members of our organization," Pally said. "Those officials who have been re-elected and those who have been elected for the first time have demonstrated their support for responsible development.

"The results in the Town of Huntington, in particular, with the re-election of Supervisor Frank Petrone and town board member Mark Cuthbertson, along with the election of Tracey Edwards to the town board, show that you can be supportive of large-scale housing development in a town and still win an election.”
