Cactus Salon Treats Unemployed Residents with Makeovers for Job Interviews

Dix Hills salon gives away free haircuts and new styles to 25 clients of Family Service League.

For those struggling in the job market, a haircut or a day at the beauty salon is considered a luxury, often way outside their limited financial means. Looking to help its neighbors, Cactus Salon in Dix Hills recently gave career-seeking residents free makeovers for job interviews.

The salon treated 25 clients of Family Service League to free haircuts, new styles and other beauty treatments to give them a boost of confidence . The services performed by Cactus Academy students to help give unemployed career seekers a look to feel good about as they go on job interviews

The event was open to FSL clients struggling with financial hardship and receiving services to help overcome numerous obstacles including finding suitable employment.

The Cactus experience turned out to be wonderful for a mother and daughter who sat side-by-side as Cactus Academy students explored the possibilities of exciting new hair styles with them — and then worked their magic for the excited pair.

Some of the other services provided by Cactus included coloring, manicures and makeup applications.
