Kohl's to Close in April

Store occupies largest space in Melville Mall.

The Kohl's store in Melville will close in April, the company confirmed Friday.

All employees have been offered jobs at other stores in the area, the company said; those not transferring to other stores will be offered severance packages.

A source said the closing of the store at 834A Walt Whitman Road is not part of a wider shutdown of other Kohl's sites.

"Kohl's customers can continue to find great values at six other area locations, or in any of the 50 Kohl's stores throughout the state of New York," the company said.

No information was immediately available on possible new tenants for the 92,000-square-foot store, the largest space in the Melville Mall, which also features a Dick's sporting goods store, Marshall's, All the Write Stuff and a Waldbaum's. It is managed by Federal Realty.
