Mandee in Melville Closing

The women's clothing store is one of several locations that will close its doors this month.

The women's clothing store, located on Walt Whitman Road (Route 110) is one of several of the chain's locations that will likely shut its doors this month.

Bloomberg News and Woman's Wear Daily reported on Monday that the chain's parent company, Big M, is preparing to declare bankruptcy. Mandee, a privately held company, has not confirmed the reports.

An employee at the Melville location said the store has been given a 10-day closing notice, but has not been told the exact date the store will be shut down.  The shop is currently having a liquidation sale with major discounts on all items.

The Melville location is joining a handful of other Long Island Mandee stores that are closing. Employees at the Commack location  and the Smithtown store is in its .
