In the first installment of a continuing series, “Visions for Vacancies,” Half Hollow Hills Patch features vacant storefronts and seeks input from readers as to the type of business they would like to see fill the empty location.

This week the vacancy is two storefronts on Walt Whitman Road (Route 110) in Melville, which used to house clothing store Mandee, as well as Pearle Vision.The storefronts are located next to Harmon Discount.

after its chain parent company, Big M, reportedly sought bankruptcy. The Melville location shut its doors along with a handful of other Long Island Mandee locations including Commack and Smithtown.
