Melville, NY January 16, 2014 – Hilary JM Topper, President & CEO of HJMT Public Relations Inc., located in Melville, New York and New York City, and Lido Beach resident, was recently appointed Adjunct Professor at Hofstra University’s Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. Topper will be teaching a Master’s level course, “Communication Technology,” which will focus on digital and web-based technologies for public relations and communications practitioners.

Public Relations practitioners need to know how to create engaging digital content to drive online visibility,” said Hilary Topper. “I look forward to sharing my knowledge and inspiring these students to further embrace digital technology within the Public Relations field.”
Topper will teach students how to create effective content through digital and online methods such as social media, public relations, blogging, mobile marketing, digital photography and video podcasting. She will examine ways practitioners are utilizing these new technologies for business and publicity purposes using five various non-profit Long Island charities as case studies.
Topper is a first generation Google Glass Explorer. She will discuss wearable technology as it relates to public relations. She will also talk about the future of digital communication, including her recent experience with Glasslandia, the first ever Google Glass Reality Show.

Topper has more than 30 years experience in the public relations, marketing and advertising fields. She worked at three major public relations firms and two New York City based non-profit organizations before starting her firm in 1992. In addition to having a successful public relations practice, Hilary believes in giving back. She currently mentors several Baruch College students, hosts a blogtalk radio show and is the Founder and President of the Social Media Association, Inc.
Topper wrote one of the earliest books on Social Media in 2009 called, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Social Media. The book has sold thousands of copies around the world. She is an avid blogger and has more than 40,000 unique visitors on her blog, HilaryTopper.com. She also has a running blog where more than 10,000 runners read the blog every month.
Topper graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Science and received her Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College.
