The Schlitt Law Firm Sponsors Walking Warriors Special Needs Class in Huntington High School Relay for Life

The Schlitt Law Firm is sponsoring the Walking Warriors Teams in the Huntington High School Relay for Life on Saturday, June 7, 2014.The Walking Warrior Teams were formed by the special needs classes at Huntington High School. The Relay for Life is a fundraising event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The Relay for Life is a student-run activity that culminates in an overnight walkathon that starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 on the track at Huntington High School. Students have sold clothing, held bake sales and connected with area merchants to raise funds leading up to the Saturday night extravaganza. The students have organized themselves into teams with prizes for the teams that raise the most money and walk the most laps.

The special needs classes have joined the fun led by teachers Patricia Klee, Maureen Yostpille and Erica Murphy. The students are learning how to plan and organize an event and how to ask for money as part of a fundraising event. They designed their own t-shirts, assembled a list of supplies they will need and have been training in their gym class. This year, they have planned a beach theme for their efforts. The students came up with the name, Walking Warriors.

The Schlitt Law Firm has provided t-shirts to all members of the Walking Warriors team, snacks and supplies for the night of the walk and $500 in cash. We will spend the night walking with the Walking Warriors.

The husband-wife team of Carol L. Schlitt and Mark X. Cronin lead the Schlitt Law Firm and say it was only natural to support the Walking Warriors. Carol said, “Our son John Lee Cronin has Down syndrome and is a member of the special needs class. We love these kids and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this great event with them.”
