Forest Park School Gets A Lesson

The Dix Hills Fire Department visited Forest Park Elementary School on Friday January 24th to conduct a Fire Safety and Prevention Program. The kindergarten students learned about fire prevention, and were shown the tools and equipment used by firefighters. Teacher, Mrs. Lisa Sison, assisted with the demonstration by dressing in full firefighter protective gear.

Additionally the students learned some lifesaving safety techniques like “Stop Drop and Roll”, “Your Safe Place to Meet in an Emergency” and “Never Play With Matches”. The children thanked the firefighters with a beautifully crafted card signed by the entire class.  Ex-Chief Richard Sorrentino lead the program, assisted by Commissioner Todd Cohen, Captain Brett Tepe and Firefighter Tom Nostramo.
