Berland To Honor Companies At Dix Hills FD Toy Drive

Huntington councilwoman says two companies helped save annual toy drive.

Huntington Councilwoman Susan A. Berland will present official Town of Huntington proclamations to S & D Transfer of Cranbury, New Jersey, and Valrico Ventures of Nederland, Texas, at Saturday’s 6th Annual “Sunshine’s Toy Drive” at the Dix Hills Fire Department. The event starts at 8:30 a.m.

Berland said she is thanking both companies for their donations of $10,000 each, which saved the toy drive this year in light of Hurricane Sandy.

Valrico Ventures got word of the toy drive via Huntington Manor Fire Commissioner Mike Pastore and passed the information on to their business partner S & D Transfer. This union was a perfect case of being in the “right place at the right time” as preparations for this year’s toy drive faced a significant roadblock due to Hurricane Sandy.
