Dix Hills Girl Fundraises For Sandy Victims

A Dix Hills elementary school student is looking to help the less fortunate in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Taylor Goldstein, 7, a second grader at Vanderbilt Elementary School, is making and selling lanyard key chains with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross.

She is selling the lanyards for $3 each or 2 for $5 and so far she has received orders from across Long Island and several states including Michigan, Florida, New Hampshire and New Jersey.

“My parents always tell me and my brother how important it is to help others,” Taylor said. “I wanted to find a fun way to help the kids and parents who lost so much from the storm. I only lost a lot of trees and some other things. I was lucky.”
