LIE Service Road Closures Begin Tuesday Night

South service roads between exit 48 and 49 will be closed at night through Friday for paving work.

From the New York State Department of Transportation:

Motorists are advised that all travel lanes of the eastbound Long Island Expressway (LIE/I-495) south service roads between Round Swamp Road (exit 48) and NY Route 110 (Exit 49) will be closed at night beginning tonight, Tuesday, May 14 in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County.

These closures will continue each night, weather permitting, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Friday, May 17.  This LIE closure is needed to perform final paving operations on the LIE south service road as part of the $4.6 million LIE service roads operational improvements project that is expected to be completed this summer.

As with most paving operations, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.  Emergency service providers and local officials have been notified of these nightly travel lane closures. Motorists are being warned in advance of the closings via electronic road signs but should plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
