LIRR Cancels PM Rush Trains, Expects Service Disruptions Through Wed

Amtrak train derailment the culprit.

Buckle up, commuters.

The Long Island Rail Road is now warning of "significant adjustments" to AM and PM peak service through Wednesday.  It's all the result of an Amtrak train derailment on Sunday that blocked one of the East River tunnels, officials said.

As crews work to clear the equipment, assess and repair track and signal damage, commuters will feel the pain.  Approximately 20 eastbound trains from Penn Station will be cancelled and combined with other trains for the Monday evening rush.
