New LIRR Timetable to Start May 16

Check MTA site for specifics on your schedule.

The LIRR will switch to its summer schedule starting May 16 , which will stay in effect until September 11. The time changes also include a handful of warm weather track maintenance times, according to a statement from the MTA.

The MTA said the bulk of the work is scheduled for off-peak periods, such as midday during the week and on weekends, to minimize the impact on most LIRR customers who use the railroad to get to work in the morning and back home at night.

Projects include the installation of new railroad ties on the Main Line and Far Rockaway branches, the replacement of third rail and the painting of a bridge on the Port Washington branch, the resurfacing of switches on the Main Line and Atlantic branches and the installation pf new running rail on the Babylon branch, the MTA said in a statement.

Midday weekdays and early Saturday mornings one of the two tracks will be out of service between Merillon Avenue and Carle Place to support the replacement of track ties and a switch surfacing program. Train times on the Montauk, Oyster Bay, Huntington and Port Jefferson branches have been adjusted up to 13 minutes to accommodate this work.

All times on the Ronkonkoma line are slightly adjusted. For specifics on each time change, check out the MTA website.
