Lindenhurst

The body of a dead female that came ashore Monday on Gilgo Beach has been identified as a Queens woman missing since March.

Newsday, citing information from a Suffolk County Police spokesperson, reported that the body is that of Natasha Jugo, 31, who was reported missing on March 18. Police began their search for Jugo after a 911 caller reported finding personal items near Ocean Walk in West Gilgo Beach.

Sayville-Bayport

The developer of a 150-unit townhouse community in Bayport hopes to break ground within the next 60 days and have model units available for viewing and purchase by the late Fall.

The Bayport Meadows development is geared toward 55 and older and will be located on Church Street, just south of Sunrise Highway, next to the Wenner Bread factory and opposite a 17-home community on the west side of the street.

A 35-year-old man was arrested Sunday night on charges of exposing himself and committing a lewd act in front of an 18-year-old female at Medford’s Sunshine Square strip mall on June 6, Suffolk County Police said.

Police say Justin Curry of Medford was sitting in a gray 2013 Chevrolet Cruz on June 6 parked at the 700 Patchogue-Yaphank Road shopping center, when he called the teen over around 2 p.m. When she approached the car, police say he allegedly exposed himself and committed a lewd act in front of the woman, who fled and called police.

A Babylon Village man faces up to 30 years in prison for attempting to join the terrorist organization Al Qaeda, according to court documents unsealed today.

According to the United States Department of Justice Attorney's Office, Justin Kaliebe, an 18-year-old Babylon Village and Bay Shore resident and American citizen, was charged with and pleaded guilty to attempting to travel to Yemen to join the terrorist organization Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

West Islip

A Lindenhurst man was arrested Monday and charged with leaving the scene of a crash that seriously injured two women in West Islip.

According to Suffolk County police, 24-year-old Joseph Gervasio was driving his 2008 Acura on Union Boulevard just west of Higbie Lane on June 15 at around 2 a.m. when he crashed his car.

Gervasio allegedly fled the scene on foot, leaving behind two female passengers in his car that were seriously injured.

Sachem

The Nesconset-Sachem Civic Association (NSCA) hosted Suffolk County Legislator John M. Kennedy Jr. for an informative meeting on the future of the Bavarian Inn site. 

Presently Leg. Kennedy is engaged in a battle to see the site, which has fallen into disrepair, returned to a passive park. 

At issue is the county's responsibility to raze the dilapidated building at a cost of about $300,000, and certain members of county government wishing to see the property sold at auction where it can be placed back on the tax rolls.

Deer Park-North Babylon

A North Babylon man pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to charges related to the allegedly massive fraud scheme in which Long Island Rail Road workers claimed to be disabled upon early retirement so that they could receive disability benefits to which they were not entitled, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
