Babylon Village

The American Legion Post 94 honored our country's heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice with a winding parade throughout Babylon Village. Active military, veterans, boy and girl scout troops, church members and the Babylon Fire Department all participated in the parade down Deer Park Avenue and West Main Street.

Sachem

The Sachem Board of Education, by a vote of 7-2, adopted the 2013-14 budget that installs the tax cap levy of 3.14 percent at Wednesday's meeting. The proposed budget, which includes cutting kindergarden to half-day, is now up to the community, which will vote on June 18. The original proposed budget failed last week.

Deer Park-North Babylon

The North Babylon Board of Education voted Tuesday night to put the same $112 million budget proposal that was defeated last week up for a revote on June 18.
The board voted 4-2 to attempt to pierce the state's tax cap once again instead of cutting $625,000 from the proposal to bring it within the cap.

Patchogue

Parking meters will be returning to Patchogue Village as early as September, as the Patchogue Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved a bid for parking meters during Tuesday’s board meeting at Patchogue Village Hall.

West Islip

The West Islip community is rallying for a local teen currently fighting cancer. 
fundraiser is set for Sunday, June 2 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Babylon Masonic Lodge in Babylon in honor of 15-year-old Chris Huckstadt, of West Islip, who is undergoing radiation treatment for Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Sayville-Bayport

A Bayport woman is charged with DWI and several infractions following an accident Sunday night and is due in Suffolk First District Court on June 4. According to police Madeline Higgins was driving a Chrysler 300 on Snedecor Avenue in Bayport at about 11:15 p.m. when she hit three vehicles, a tree and then drove her car onto the McConnell Avenue railroad tracks where the car got stuck.

Half Hollow Hills

High School East music teacher Danielle McRoy has been named a quarterfinalist for a national award. McRoy is one of 217 music teachers nationwide and 21 across New York to be selected as a quarterfinalist for the GRAMMY Foundation's first Music Educator Award.

Lindenhurst

A Babylon man was arrested Thursday after police say he committed armed robberies at three local tanning salons, including two in Lindenhurst, over the past week.
