Dix Hills Road Closures Saturday Morning

Several roads will be blocked off for the Eighth-Annual Alec's Run.

Residents should be aware of morning road closures taking place Saturday, April 28 to accomodate for the Eighth Annual Alec's Run

Those who have activities at the fields at Signal Hill Elementary School, St. Anthony's High School or nearby athletic fields and parks are advised to plan accordingly.

The race, which aims to raise awareness about deadly blind zones behind vehicles, will begin at Half Hollow Hills High School West at 375 Wolf Hill Road in Dix Hills at 9 a.m.

From the high school, runners will follow the race path from Wolf Hill Road to Old Country Road, then take Dix Hills Road to Caledonia Road, turn back onto Wolf Hill Road and end at High School West.

The Town of Huntington Department of Parks and Recreation said that it did not receive notice of the road closures from the Town Highway Department until Wednesday, which has caused some organizations to cancel activities at the last minute, including the HBC soccer program.

Don McKay, director of the Parks and Recreation department, said that his office will be working to open roads as the race progresses.

The following roads will be blocked by barricade:

  • Carmen Road
  • Jeanine Court
  • Wolf Hill Road/Old Country Road
  • Longwood Drive
  • Suzanne Court
  • Chautilly Court
  • Deanna Court
  • Schubert Court
  • Caterina Court
  • Darby Drive
  • Filomena Court
  • Collingwood Drive
  • Beverly Road
  • Old Country Road/Karbe Place
  • Dix Hills Road
  • Sellger Court
  • Hunter Court
  • Livingston Place
  • Sunflower Court
  • Kendrick Lane
  • Dix Hills Road/Caldonia
  • Signal Court
  • Indian Hill Court
  • Ingold Drive
  • Arbor Lane
